VISITING THE FURNACE

Your visit to Buckeye Furnace starts with a visit to the company store, stocked with antiques. As you look around you will have the opportunity to view the film "The Early Iron Industry of Ohio" that talks about this romantic chapter of Ohio History.

The important part of your visit comes when you walk the grounds and inspect the furnace and other structures that were typical of an iron making operation in the mid nineteenth century. Along the tour are numerous stanchions with colorful placards that explain not only the various operations, but also about the life at the furnace itself. Visit Buckeye Furnace for an experience into the industrial past of Ohio.

RECENT VISITORS TO BUCKEYE FURNACE

The Explore-A-College Group from Earlham College in Indiana visited the furnace on June 28th.

They toured all the buildings on site and watched the informational video on operations and the way of life at the furnace. We hope to have many more groups like this in the future. Remember you can call to schedule a visit so the museum will be open for you.
